Hello There!

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

This is Adam Menz, the newest intern here at HelpAttack!  I am a second year student at The University of Texas and I am studying computer science. I really enjoy my major and I love learning about software and computers. I also like to make things and I am constantly working on constructing something, whether it is a programming project or tinkering with electronics.

I am an avid rock climber and spend most of my time outside of school climbing. I am part of the UT climbing team. We travel around the state and compete against  students from other colleges. I like going outside to local climbing spots around Austin as well.

I am very excited to become a part of the HelpAttack! team. I can’t wait to start using my skills to help out. It is awesome to be able to work for such a great cause. I am looking forward to everything that I am going to learn from this experience. It is going to be very interesting to see how a company works and operate from the inside.

New guy here!

Hi everyone!

My name is Tommy Lee and I am the new intern at HA! I am a senior at St. Edward’s University here in Austin and I am majoring in Digital Media Management. Not sure what all of that entails? Well, it is a degree where you learn to work in the business side of the many music, film, and interactive (web, video games) companies and startups here in Austin while still learning many of the creative elements like film editing and web design. I am interested in video games, music, film and social media, so the degree sounded like a good fit for me. I’m graduating this spring and looking forward to all the opportunities that await me in working world (what little there may be these days, though things are looking brighter all the time).

I don’t do much outside of school aside from hanging out with friends, playing video games and watching movies. So you can probably be certain that I am doing one of the few when I am not busy doing school assignments or working with HA!

I am really looking forward to my experience being an intern with HA! and excited about all the things I can learn from experienced people within my field as well as gaining the skills and knowledge needed to work in a fast paced start up environment!

5 Reasons I’m Stoked to be a HelpAttack! Intern!

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Hello HelpAttacktivists!

My name is Will and I am ecstatic to be part of the HelpAttack! team.

-My 5 top reasons- 5. Austin is beautiful, friendly & FULL of energy. I have lived in Dallas, Virginia Beach, Houston, San Diego, and Los Angeles. A month ago I made the move to Austin. It has been an amazing month filled with 6th Street, the Green Belt, UT Football, Lake Travis, and ACL! I could not think of a better place to be living, working, and helping change the world. California has nothing on this city!

4. Giving is AWESOME. Whether you’re donating to a local animal shelter or an international relief agency, you’re going to feel good about it. When you get your friends to join you it gets even better! Every time I tweet I donate to the Austin Area Wildlife Rehabilitation, Inc.

3. I get to connect the Austin community to HelpAttack! I have already had the opportunity to meet with folks from the Capital Area Food Bank. In November we hope to participate in an event with Mobile Loaves & Fishes. It’s great tweeting about HelpAttack! – going into the Austin community and teaching people about it feels even better!

2. Social Media is king. Facebook has reached over 500 million users. Twitter has reached over 100 million users. Right now HelpAttack! enables Twitter users to donate to non profits by tweeting. Down the road HelpAttack! hopes to enable users on any Social Media platform to donate to nonprofits through normal day actions. That’s HUUUUUGE potential for creating positive change worldwide!

1. Team of ROCK STARS to learn from. Sarah Vela and David J. Neff have unbelievable experience in business development, Social Media and working with nonprofits. (I hear Ehren Foss is quite amazing too…) I have already learned A LOT and am excited to learn more!

What has been your favorite internship? Could you offer me any advice as I begin my journey with HelpAttack!?
