		<description>I think that direct mail is not the same as junk mail in ethical terms, but in terms of environmental impact they are all too similar. :-(

I have often had a reaction similar to what you describe when I get fancy, bulky paper mail from organizations I support or have supported in the past.  OTOH, I confess that I do actually use the little return address labels (haven&#039;t had to buy any of those in many years now), and I like the calendars in most cases.  But if they&#039;re just pleading for more money, they may as well send it to me in email - I won&#039;t be any less likely to read, respond, or donate.

I personally have several large stockpiles of direct mail that I keep thinking I will someday actually go through - numerous worthy organizations that want (and in some cases deserve) more money from me, etc. Sigh. My email inbox looks about the same.  But it&#039;s easier for me to manage than the paper stuff, and certainly kills fewer trees.</description>
